The Iomega USB Zip 100 has a structure similar to Iomega's earlier version of the Bernoulli Box that had writable surface in both sides of the disk mounted with read or write heads in a linear configuration. The read and write heads are in form of actuator flies that rapidly spin over the flexible medium supported on a strong cartridge. The difference between the Iomega USB Zip 100 disk and the earlier version of Bernoulli Box set up is that the former lacks a Bernoulli plate. As a result, the Iomega USB Zip 100 has a cartridge with only a single disk as opposed to the two disks used in the Bernoulli cartridge (that is one located on each side of the Bernoulli plate).
